SA Studbook Registration:
To register with SA Studbook, you need to be a SAABS member at an annual membership fee.
- There is a small once-off fee to birth-register your alpaca on the Logix system. There is no cost to register an animal at a later stage.
- There is a once-off fee to get your stud prefix.
Animal details stay on the system until they are removed (sold or died). If you do not transfer ownership when you sell, the animal stays on your name. If you sell to a non-member, you can request Studbook to send the certificate to the new owner and transfer the ownership details, at no cost (and the animal stays registered).
Once you have registered with Studbook, you will receive:
- Intergris Number (Your registration number with Studbook)
- Prefix (The word that goes before the given name of each animal, e.g. “Drumblade Pamela”, where “Drumblade” is the prefix)
- Herd Designation (The letters before the number allocated, e.g. DRU1234”)
