About Us
South African Alpaca Breeders' Society
The SA Alpaca Breeders' Club was inaugurated in 2001, and was promulgated to a Society in late 2007. We're registered under SA Stud Book & Livestock Improvement Association. Alpacas are therefore a registered breed in South Africa.
We focus on promotion of the breed, and serve as the controlling body for maintaining minimum breed standards and genetic improvement.

Our Objectives
What We're Here For
We strongly encourage preservation and responsible breeding of Alpacas in South Africa. Sound selection, in accordance with the acceptance of Minimum Breed Standards, improves genetics amongst our members' alpacas.
In support of our members' farming operations and income-generating alpaca practices, we promote the general interests in the breed and their fibre-related products amongst the general public.
We safeguard and advance the common interests of our breeders, and generally give effect to the objectives contemplated by the Act of our society.
We maintain a code of conduct for our society members on the sale and marketing of their animals.
